| January and February are often overlooked. However, these months often have the best weather for hiking. | |||||||||||||||||||||

Winter: Enjoy the off-season rates in January and February. Admittedly, there are some nasty days in January and February. Good weather for hiking in January and February just comes and goes. If it does snow, continue your hiking. There's nothing like the Ozark Mountains on a winter day with fresh snow on the ground. Quiet and beautiful. Some people enjoy coming to the cabin on those cold and windy days. They find it relaxing to stay inside: sip cocoa, play Scrabble by the blazing fire, enjoy the outdoor hot tub and the rock-walled steamer/shower; all the while listening to the howl of the wind outside.

What could be better that putting together smores' around an evening campfire, stargazing and watching the fireflies dance across the meadow? In the early morning watch the sun come up over the mountain tops on your hike to Hawksbill Crag or take a horseback ride on the back roads of the national forest, afterwards go for a dip in one of the many swimming holes along the Buffalo River and the Mulberry River, or cool off at Eden Falls cave at Lost Valley where its a comfortable 58° inside. |

Come for your leaf peeping getaway in mid October and November, when fall weather begs you to be outdoors, filling your lungs with crisp autumn air. There is a distinct nip in the air. Take some leisurely strolls down the country lanes at Frannie's Cabin. View the pleasant countryside with its richly hued dogwood, maple, black gum and hickory trees from the hot tub, or take strolls among the trees decked out in full autumn color. |

Go to Kingston, you might even catch a glimpse of the trumpeter swans or some elk on the way as you drive through historic Boxley Valley. Kingston is a charming little country town and it’s relaxing to walk around the square, going into Grandpa’s Place to see his antiques and then stopping for hamburgers and homemade pie at the Valley Café. |
| Could anything be cozier than yuletide in a country cabin? Come to find joy in the little things, dash outdoors to count the season's first snowflakes. Sip cocoa by the blazing fire. Bake cookies in the kitchen. And breathe in the aromas of oranges and cloves and evergreen boughs. This is December at its best. |
